Welcome to Let Justice Roll: Rochester, NY
Faith and Community voices against Poverty

poverty5704555What is “Let Justice Roll Rochester”?
In 2003 the National Council of Churches led an effort to move Poverty into the center of the political debate for the 2004 Presidential elections. During the summer of 2004 Rochester quickly pulled together a collective of religious leaders to sponsor Dr. James Forbes, Pastor of Riverside Church, New York City coming to our city for a rally. Since the 2004 gathering this collective has expanded to include various social service organizations and non-profits which serve those who are poor with the hope that working together we can reduce poverty in the Greater Rochester Community and advocate for fair treatment of the poor.

What has “Let Justice Roll Rochester” Accomplished?
In May 2005 organized a Summit for Anti-Poverty Action. The purpose of this day long event was to provide education to the faith communities of Monroe County and the community at large as to the extent of the problem in this area. A secondary accomplishment was to help link citizens to agencies that needed volunteer support. In subsequent years we have provided educational programs to many faith communities regarding the realties that the poor face. We sponsor the annual Walk for Prosperity in the month of October to heighten public awareness and help agencies and faith communities serving the poor to raise funds.
